~~Adz:Left~~BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – THE Young Energized Core of the People’s Action Movement (PAM) is geared up for its Silver Jubilee Independence Charity Walk on National Heroes’ Day, tomorrow (Sep. 16).
The walk begins outside Bloice’s Shop in Tabernacle and continues along the island’s main road (on the Cayon route) and ends at Bracktus Shop in Pond’s Extension.
The annual walk started in 1983 by the then Prime Minister Kennedy Simmonds and was mainly done not only to celebrate the Federation’s Independence, but also to raise funds for various charities on the island including the Children’s Home, Special Education and Red Cross.
Wally Wilkins, Public Relations Officer of the event, told SKNVibes that the “major highlight of the walk is that, at some point, most of the former ministers of government along with the current representatives for the party will be joining the march”.
Transportation to the start point in Tabernacle will be provided and interested persons may contact the PAM Secretariat for details.
Wilkins urged the general public to support the walk as he expects a large turnout for this year’s event.
