BASSETERRE, St. Kitts, October 29th, 2012 (CUOPM) – The St. Kitts and Nevis booth at the 2012 Taipei International Travel Fair in the Republic of China (Taiwan) has been a big hit.
“Attracted by the pulsating sounds of soca and calypso music, the energetic dancing of the masquerade and the refreshing taste of rum punch, throngs of people lined the corridors of the Taipei International Travel Fair to visit the St. Kitts and Nevis booth,” the Federation’s Resident Ambassador in Taipei, Her Excellency Jasmine Huggins said Monday.
The Taipei International Travel Fair, one of the largest in South East Asia attracts more than 250,000 visitors each year. More than 60 countries exhibit at the Fair each year with Japan leading the pack with 106 booths.
“I want to go this place. I love the music and the dancing” said a Singapore national who had not heard of the Federation prior to visiting the booth.
“We would like to tap into this huge market and our booth, with pulsating music and the cultural performances is geared towards attracting as many people as possible to the Federation, and the effort is given great support from the students here in Taiwan who are very happy to showcase our culture,” remarked the Kittitian ambassador.
The cultural group from St. Kitts and Nevis currently visiting Taiwan also made an appearance at the booth and delighted many with another energetic performance.
Hundreds of people also waited in long lines to vie for a chance to win St. Kitts and Nevis T-shirts and other advertising give aways after playing various games and answering questions about the twin-island federation.
Mr. Sagu N' galla from the St. Kitts Tourism Authority informed some golfing enthusiasts trying their hand at a putting game that St. Kitts and Nevis will be constructing two additional golf courses in 2014.
Earlier, Mr. N'galla made a comprehensive presentation to attendees on the diversity of the tourism product of St. Kitts and Nevis and fielded many questions from interested persons.
“It is my hope that out of this initiative we would have many Taiwanese visiting St. Kitts and Nevis so that they can learn more about our cultural heritage and experience the Kittitian and Nevisian hospitality for which we are famous and of which we are justly proud. I also take this opportunity to express my gratitude to the Government and people of the Republic of China (Taiwan) who have supported us in so many ways including our participation at the 2012 Taipei International Travel Fair,” said Ambassador Huggins.
The travel Fair concludes on Monday October 29.
