BASSETERRE, St. Kitts - A “hot off the assembly line” 2008/2009 black LEXUS LS460L was yesterday (Sept. 15) presented to the Prime Minister of the Federation, Dr. the Honourable Denzil Douglas for official use in his ministry by the TDC group of companies.

The presentation, which took place at TDC’s Home and Building Depot, Frigate Bay Road, is the continuance of a pledge made by the corporate citizen to present a vehicle to the office of the prime minister at the fulfillment of each five year interval.  Since the pledge was made in 1983, six vehicles have been presented to the office of the prime minister of which PM Douglas has received three.

During the ceremony TDC’s Chairman Michael Morton said that his company has participated extensively in nation building and pledged “continued support in building this proud Federation of St. Kitts and Nevis”.  In handing over the electronic card which is used to control the vehicle, Morton said that it is his hope that the vehicle serves the office of the prime minister “for many many years to come”.  ~~Adz:Right~~

In acceptance of the vehicle, Prime Minister Douglas expressed his gratitude to the TDC Group of Companies and to the people of St. Kitts and Nevis who have “seen it fit time and time again, to put their faith and their confidence in me as the leader of this great country of ours”.

“I want to firstly say that I accept this gift on behalf of the government and people of St. Kitts and Nevis and specifically on behalf of the Office of the Prime Minister. It is really a most historic moment because this is the third time that I have had the distinct honour and privilege to receive the gift on behalf of the Office of the Prime Minister. I say thanks not only to TDC as a company but to the people of St. Kitts and Nevis who, for the last few years, have made it possible for me to receive this gift within the ambit of the workings of democracy here in St. Kitts and Nevis.”

Following the ceremony, a TDC representative outlined the inner-workings and features offered by the vehicle to Douglas who then sat and familiarised himself with the luxury automobile.

The Lexus LS460 L retails for EC$460,000 and is a luxury, four door sedan with a radar pre-collision system, direct tyre pressure monitor system, theft deterrent and engine immobaliser and boasts a 4.6 liter V8 four-cam engine.

It also features a leather interior, cruise control; ‘smart access’, which allows for the key-less entry and ignition control to the vehicle; an audio/entertainment system with some 10 speakers; an automatic sound levelizer (ASL) and a six-disk CD auto-changer.
