BASSETERRE, St. Kitts - ANOTHER school year has begun and, as promised by the Concerned Citizens for a better McKnight group, 50 backpacks were yesterday (Oct. 31) presented to students of the Irish Town Primary School.

The backpacks were presented to the fourth and fifth grades students and each contained three exercise books, four pencils, three pens, one sharpener, one ruler, two glue sticks, one large eraser, four pencil top erasers, one calculator and one dictionary.

Representative for the Concerned Citizens for a better McKnight group, Bernard B. T. Rawlins thanked those who assisted in making the donation possible, both in St. Kitts and those overseas, noting that the project would not have been a success had it not been for their dedication to the cause and their heartfelt donations.

Rawlins once again promised to continue assisting the school, stating that it is the group's intention "to continue assisting wherever possible in the future".

"I would also like to encourage the students to work hard in school, do your very best and reach higher for a brighter future," he told the students.

The handing over was done by group member Hildred Rawlins, who also gave a motivational speech to the students in attendance.

The Concerned Citizens for a better McKnight is a group that comprises former residents of that area who currently reside overseas.
