BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – FOOTBALL fans in the twin-island Federation have been expressing their disgust at the fact that the 2012/2013 St. Kitts-Nevis Football Association (SKNFA) Premier Division failed to start as scheduled because of an issue that could be easily resolved.

The Premier Division was set to get underway in September but has been held due to a feud between the SKNFA and three clubs after they claimed that the Association did not follow the rules that were to be implemented last season.

The clubs claimed that if the rules were followed, the St. Paul’s and Conaree Football Clubs would have played in last season’s finals instead of instead of Conaree and eventual winners Newtown.

The three Premier League football clubs have threatened not to participate in the upcoming 2012-2013 football season if the dispute with the Association is not addressed.

The SKNFA’s Constitution gives clubs the right to a redress at an independent and impartial hearing (arbitration) when there are intractable issues between the SKNFA’s executive and its member clubs.

The Clubs disclosed they have sought intervention from other stakeholders in order to bring an amicable resolution to the impasse.

Fans in St. Kitts and Nevis have called for a quick resolution into the issue as they are anxious to witness what their team would bring for the new season.

The First Division League however is already on the way as well as the SKNFA newest initiative - the Junior League.
