                                        Phillips Confirmed as Director of Development Planning

    Raymond Phillip

     

    Roadtown, Tortola- His Excellency the Governor, after consultation with the Public Service Commission, has approved Mr. Raymond Phillips’ confirmation in the post of Director of Development Planning with effect from August 1, 2008.

    Mr. Phillips has been acting in the post since July 1, 2005.

     

    The Director of Development Planning is responsible for the management of national development planning, national statistics, and national economics. He works under the direct supervision of the Permanent Secretary, Premier’s Office.

     

    Mr. Phillips holds an Associate’s Degree in mathematics from the Bronx Community College, New York and a Bachelor’s Degree in business with a concentration in analytical statistics from Bernard M. Baruch College, New. York.   ~~Adz:Right~~

     

    Mr. Phillips was appointed to the public service in 1979 as a clerical assistant, and assigned for duty in the Development Planning Unit. He attended a number of training courses since his employment in the public service, including an on-the-job attachment with the Department of Statistics in Kingston, Jamaica in 1983 and a Post-Graduate Diploma Course in population and development studies in The Hague, Netherlands in 1992.

     

    Mr. Phillips also held the following positions in the Development Planning Unit over the course of his career: clerical officer (1982–1984); assistant statistical officer (1984–1990); statistician I (1990–1998); statistician II (1998–2000); and deputy director (2000-2005).
