Woman who breaks into house, cleans and leaves a bill, pleads guilty

Susan Warren

BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – AN Ohio woman recently pleaded guilty to attempted burglary, but what seem to be bizarre about the case are the circumstances which led to her arrest and plea.

Articles carried by The Chronicle-Telegram explain that in May 2012, Susan Warren of Elyria was driving past a house when – because she “wanted something to do” – entered the Dover Center Road home.

She apparently has no difficulty entering the home as it was unlocked.

The Chronicle-Telegram reported that while there, Warren – who has been dubbed ‘the Cleaning Fairy’ – “washed some coffee cups, took out the trash, vacuumed and dusted”.

And if that were not strange enough, before leaving the home, the 53-year old proceeded to left a bill for $75, which she wrote on a napkin for the residents of the house. She actually seemed to have expected payment because, also on that napkin, Warren wrote her name and phone number.

The Chronicle-Telegram suggested that somewhere in the home, a 19-year-old woman was asleep during Warren’s activities, and when she saw the note she figured her mother had called for a house-cleaning service or that a cleaning service may have done some work at the wrong home.

Warren claims that she is in the habit of executing such behaviour and she is reported to have said that she has a cleaning service.

On Tuesday (Oct. 30) at a Cuyahoga County Common Pleas Court, Warren pleaded to attempted burglary and is expected to be sentenced sometime in December 2012.

Warren – a woman who the Chronicle-Telegram said has previous convictions – may have to face a country grand jury in another case of burglary which was brought against her. That incident is said to have taken place in April 2012.

Meanwhile, Linda Meldrum – Warren’s sibling - is of the view that her sister could be mentally ill, suggesting that she might be suffering from a mental breakdown.

These are claims that Warren however denies.
