BASSETERRE, St. Kitts - RECRUITS of the Royal St. Christopher and Nevis Police Force, accompanied by the Force’s Drum Corps, participated in a routine “route march” through the streets of Basseterre yesterday (Sept. 17) displaying some of the skills learnt during their training.

The recruits, all male, made their way down Fort Street, west along Central Street, east along Liverpool Row and continued along a path which took them to Port Zante.

While there, the recruits, under the leadership of the Commander of the Training School, Superintendent Raymond Cotton, fine-tuned the routine they are expected to execute during the 25th Independence Parade which will take place tomorrow (Sep. 19) at Warner Park, Basseterre.

With just a few moments of rest, the recruits and the Drum Corps were at it again and they marched in quick time back through the streets of Basseterre, again displaying a fraction of the skills they acquired.

Superintendent Cotton, in an interview with SKNVibes, said the aim of the route march was twofold: “To showcase the Drum Corps and to give the recruits some practice for the Independence Parade.”

Cotton said it was the third route march in which the recruits participated since their training began, and another is scheduled before their official passing out ceremony scheduled for sometime next month.

The Training School Commander said the recruits are ready and prepared to make an appearance at their first independence parade and further noted that compliments paid to them by the public have served to boost their confidence.

“They seem prepared and persons have called and said how well they were when they were marching through Basseterre. They also got compliments on the way they performed during the practice session we had at Warner Park.  I believe they are prepared. They did well,” Cotton expressed.  ~~Adz:Right~~
