BASSETERRE, St. Kitts - THE St. Kitts and Nevis Basketball team has won the 2012 Sugar Creole Festival held in Dominica last weekend.

The team won the tournament in convincing fashion, being successful in all three games by beating the national teams of Dominica and Martinique as well as the Dominica Under-23 team in three nights of basketball action.

The team started off the tournament impressively by winning their first game in an overtime thriller against team Dominican, taking the game 64-58.

The St. Kitts-Nevis team then continued its winning ways as they cruised to a comfortable 86-74 victory over the National team of Martinique.

The Kittitian/Nevisian team dominated the French from start to finish leading the way at the end of each quarter.

Following the two victories, team SKN took the bacon by thrashing the Dominica Under-23 squad 70-55 to Champions of the Sugar Creole Basketball Festival.

This is the second year of the Sugar Creole Festival; the first was held last year in St. Kitts, but the competitive tournament was played on a friendly basis.

The victorious team St. Kitts-Nevis is scheduled to return home today (Nov. 12) and a press conference is expected to be held in the Reception Hall at the RLB International Airport.
