Second video on new hospital to be broadcast this week

    Hon. Dancia Penn, OBE, QC

Roadtown, Tortola- Minister of Health and Social Development Honourable Dancia Penn, OBE, QC said Government’s second video documentary on the new Peebles Hospital is ready for release.

The Minister told the Department of Information and Public Relations that the newly completed documentary will be shown for the first time this Tuesday, 23 September, on Caribbean Broadcast Network Channel 51 at 8 p.m. and on JTV Channel 55 at 8:30 p.m.

Honourable Penn said she is pleased that the programme was successfully completed and will soon be broadcast on local television, because it will inform residents about recent progress that has been achieved towards completing that major infrastructure development. “The people of our Territory will also receive an opportunity to receive firsthand information about the progress that both Government and the contractors expect to achieve by the end of the year,” she said.

Premier Honourable Ralph T. O’Neal, OBE mentioned the new hospital project in his recent territorial address when he updated the public on his administration’s first year in office.    ~~Adz:Right~~

Among other things, the Premier said construction work on the multi-million dollar project continues to progress at a steady pace and he also announced that Government’s second video documentary update on the project will be released this month.

In January 2007 the Government signed a $63.9 million contract with the company Mirsand-Carimex-Quantum for the construction of the new Peebles Hospital. Work on the project, which is being supervised by the Ministry, commenced in March 2007 and under the contract was to have been completed in September 2007. It is now expected to be completed by May 2009.
