Back-To-School Church Service set for September 28

~~Adz:Right~~ Roadtown, Tortola- The Ministry and Department of Education and Culture will host its second annual Back-to-School Church Service under the theme “Moving from Good to Great” on Sunday, September 28 at the New Testament Church of God International Worship Centre beginning at 2 p.m.

Minister for Education and Culture Honourable Andrew Fahie said the service is being held to invoke God’s blessings on the educational system, specifically the 2008/2009 school year.

The service, which will be carried live on radio stations ZKING and ZVCR, will feature students and groups from around the Territory. Pastors from several religious denominations will also join in sharing blessings to the gathering. The guest speaker will be Pastor Claude O. Cline of the New Community Baptist Church in Detroit, Michigan, USA.

In a back-to-school address on September 11, Honourable Fahie invited everyone, especially all stakeholders in education, to attend this year’s service. “We seek to put the Great God of the Universe first and seek his blessings and favours on the new school year, 2008/2009, and upon our students and all members of our education team,” he said.

Honourable Fahie added: “We must stand together in the best interest of our students in the manner that guides them in the right path at all times with continuous reinforcement and encouragement so that all positive attributes engraved in their lives would be maintained and most importantly retained.”

The first Back to School Church Service was held on September 16, 2008 under the theme “Positive Choices Anchored in Godly Living”.

The mission of the Ministry of Education and Culture is to provide high quality education and rehabilitative services, as well as, to facilitate access to and participation in sports, recreation and culture, in order to enrich the lives of all residents of the Virgin Islands.
