Jamaican born TV producer working for Oprah

    NY New York, November 13th, 2012  --  For almost a decade, Jamaican born Tameika "Tammy" Dorman worked as an Associate Producer at BET TV (BET Networks) in Manhattan. During her tenure, Dorman worked on various programs including 'Rap City,' 'Black Carpet,' 'Spring Bling,' the BET Awards and was involved with the production of '106 & Park,' 'The Deal' and 'Rip The Runway.'

     

    Dorman was also the genius behind BET's coverage of Irie Jamboree 2005 and the TV special that featured the legendary Barrington Levy, 'energy god' Elephant Man, Sizzla Kalonji and “Jr. Gong” Marley. She also lobbied for Mavado's video which premier on the station's flagship '106 & Park' TV show.

     

    For his appearance on Rip The Runway that year, Tammy produced a feature called “The Diary of Dancehall NYC’s Tammy that featured the Gully Gaad star. In 2009 she single handedly engineered BET's coverage of Richie B's EME Awards in Jamaica.

     

    Dorman has now accepted an Associate Producer position at Oprah's Winfrey's OWN network and she is excited about her new job. Her first assignment at the network is assisting the production of a new program for Oprah called 'O List,' which will give viewers a behind the scenes look at Oprah selecting her favorite gifts for her Christmas TV special.

     

    The program will premier on November 18th. When asked what it was like working for the most powerful woman in media, an elated Doman said, "Working for Oprah is one of the most fulfilling experiences. I must say financially, she pays much better than any other entertainment production company hands down."

     

    About Oprah, she said, "She is warm, passionate, very caring and very concerned for others." She describes Oprah as the 'people's president.' "Even though she is a Billionaire, you would never know" she continued. "Her number one concern in life is giving back. Even though I have only been there for a short time, I have learnt a lot and aspire to be like her one day.
