~~Adz:Left~~ ST. JOHN’S, Antigua/Barbuda – THE body of Thomas Lambert, former captain of the Barbuda Express Ferry, was found around 7:30 a.m. in his villa in Jolly Harbour on Saturday, September 20.

According to Antigua Sun, one of Lambert’s neighbours, who reportedly made many attempts to contact him from since one week ago, had not received any response. Law enforcement authorities were subsequently informed and immediately arrived on scene to investigate the matter.

It is widely rumoured that the ex-ferry operator may have resorted to suicide after reportedly being dismissed from his job, following a proposal to buyout the Barbuda Ferry. It is also noted by many Barbudans, who frequent the ferry, that the prices had become “far too expensive and the ferry was experiencing problems in management”.

Meanwhile, Lambert, 42, who had operated his vessel up until July 2008, was found dead in his bedroom, lying on his back on his bed. News coming out of that country indicates that a note, which was seemingly written by Lambert, was found on the scene, requesting that the total sum of monies due to him from the Barbuda Express Ferry be given to a friend of his, whose name had not been disclosed.

Lambert’s death was a tragic one which came as a disturbance to the many Barbudans who relied on the ferry service. However, further investigations into his death are being carried out, and an autopsy, soon to be carried out, is expected to shine some light on the unexplained death.
