BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – A police officer, who had accused St. Vincent and the Grenadines Prime Minister Dr. Ralph Gonsalves of raping her at his official residence, ended her claims stating that she was tired of dealing with the situation and preferred for it to be laid to rest.

Although no explanation for ending the rape claim was given during court, according to the Searchlight Newspaper, the officer’s attorney was quoted saying that her client was tired and traumatised in addressing the issue and added that she just wanted to let it go.

News coming out of the country reveals the 36-year old officer had claimed that on January 3, Dr. Gonsalves sexually assaulted and raped her while she was on duty at his official residence. However, PM Gonsalves fervidly denied the charge placed against him and stated that it was merely “an attempt by his opponents to damage him politically and discredit him”.

According to Caribbean 360, St. Vincent and the Grenadines Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) Colin Williams had claimed that the allegation raised would not have been able to stand in a court of law and consequently dismissed the matter.    ~~Adz:Right~~

It was noted that the officer presented numerous challenges in both the High Court and Eastern Caribbean Court of Appeal. She had also requested for a summons to be issued to Dr. Gonsalves to attend Family Court, but all her appeals were rejected.

Earlier this year, another Vincentian woman residing in Canada had also accused PM Gonsalves of sexually assaulting her four years ago, but the allegations were immediately dismissed.
