St. Maarten and Barbados athletes win NACAC 10k Series in St. Kitts

    BASSETERRE, St. Kitts - A female from Barbados and a male from St. Maarten took home top honors at the fifth stage of the 2012 NACAC 10k Caribbean Series held in St. Kitts on Sunday.

     

    Omarco Robinson of St. Maarten captured first place in the male category with a time of 37. 15 minutes and carted off the US$500 cash prize and a ticket to move on to the next leg in Trinidad and Tobago, compliments NACAC.

     

    Second place went to Ezra Calbone of Antigua and Barbuda who won himself a US$400 cash prize, while third place went to Brian Huggins who won $325 and fourth and fifth places were won by Kejon Parris of St. Kitts and Nevis and Shaquille Bardsley, who were awarded US$275 and US$250 respectively.

     

    First place in the female category went to Carlie Pipe of Barbados with a time of 48.50 minutes. She also won the US$500 cash prize and has progressed to the next stage.

     

    NACAC 10k Run started in Old Road by the Catholic Church and ended in front of Island Bakery on Fort Street.

     

    The NACAC Fourth Leg was held in Martinique on November 4, before coming to St Kitts and Nevis on November 18.

     

    The next leg is scheduled for Trinidad and Tobago on December 2, while the six-leg will be held The Dominican Republic on September 15 before proceeding to The British Virgin Islands on October 6.
