Operation Future Press Release

By: Operation Future, Press Release

BASSETERRE St. Kitts, November 20th, 2012  --  In August of 2012 Operation Future invited Mr. Daniel Suter, Criminal Justice Adviser to the Eastern Caribbean, to participate as a speaker at our annual conference.  Mr. Suter introduced the participants in the conference to a program called “No Witness No Justice”, this program is a joint initiative of the U.S. Embassy to Barbados and the Eastern Caribbean and the British High Commission, Bridgetown Barbados.

“No Witness No Justice” is a school initiative to educate the youth of the importance of public participation in the criminal justice system and by extension encourage the youth to be responsible citizens in their community.

The program educates the youth as to how the criminal justice system works and how it’s integrity depends on public participation and support.

Mr. Suter was invited to become a member of Operation Future which he accepted and we agreed to assist Mr. Suter with the introduction of this important program into the schools of the Federation.

Operation Future has been asked to identify a school from the Federation to send one teacher and two students to the No Witness No Justice Caribbean Youth Network Barbados Conference to be held December 5th to 7th in Barbados.  Given the nature of our twin island Nation Operation Future requested that both islands be accommodated and representation from one school in each St Kitts and Nevis be given the opportunity to attend this valuable conference.

Operation Future is pleased to announce that this request was granted and as such a faculty representative and two students will be chosen from both Basseterre Secondary School and Gingerland Secondary School to attend the conference.  The faculty representative and students have been chosen by the administration of their respective schools.

Operation Future is pleased to be able to assist in providing the youth with this excellent opportunity and look forward to working with these youth when they return to assist in dispersing the program to all schools in the Federation.
