‘Two thumbs up’ to Caribbean Cinemas opening

BASSETERRE, St. Kitts-The nearly completed multi-million-dollar Caribbean Cinemas Megaplex 7 at Buckley’s Site was unveiled Tuesday evening (Sept. 23) in a lavish gala that was graced by the company’s executives and several high-ranking government officials.
Hailed by Caribbean Cinemas Chief Executive Officer Robert Carrady as a “state-of-the-art” complex, the seven screen theater features four “stadium” style auditoriums with 250 seats, reclining chairs and top of the line Dolby Digital Surround Sound.
“This facility features the absolute latest trends in theater design,” Carrady said.
“We have also planned a diversity of film programming that will cater to all segments of the community that will range from action, comedy, suspense, drama and of course the most personally gratifying to me-the family and children’s films.” ~~Adz:Right~~
In addition to the cinema aspect of the facility, there is a fully stocked concession bar, a 1000 square foot children’s play area and several rental spaces available for restaurants.
Hon. Sam Condor, Deputy Prime Minister and Parliamentary representative for Constituency #3, told the gathered crowd that the completion of the cinema “symbolizes a huge step on the road to another milestone in the continuing success story of investment in our country”.
He also praised the developers and contractors for their ‘beautiful work on the building’, as well as for using forty-five locals to staff the Megaplex. He also commended entrepreneur and Director of Business Development Sherwin White for “fulfilling the vision of those who started the Acquisition of Lands Act right here in Buckley’s Estate”.
White said that the theater was his first major undertaking and he was overwhelmed to see it come to fruition after four years of hard work.
“Tonight can be summarized in one word- Wow. We had some speed bumps here and there, but God pulled us through and I could not be happier than I am right now,” he told SKNVibes.
Following the ceremony, the hundreds of patrons who turned up were given the first demonstration of the theater’s top of the line audio and video equipment by way of film screening sin six of the auditoriums.
The Caribbean Cinemas Megaplex 7 will be open to the public tonight (Sept. 25) beginning at 6 p.m., with two showings daily Monday-Friday and four on Saturdays and Sundays beginning around 2 p.m.
