PM Douglas and President Arroyo discuss issues at UN

BASSETERRE, ST. KITTS, SEPTEMBER 25TH 2008 (CUOPM) – St. Kitts and Nevis Prime Minister Hon. Dr. Denzil L. Douglas and Philippines President Her Excellency Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo met in New York on Tuesday.
According to St. Kitts and Nevis’ Permanent Representative to the United Nations, His Excellency Delano Bart, Prime Minister Douglas and President Arroyo discussed several bi-lateral issues.
“Chief among them was the support of the Philippines for St. Kitts and Nevis’ candidacy for membership of the United Nations Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) in 2009,” Ambassador Bart disclosed.
He also said that the Philippines President is requesting the support of St. Kitts and Nevis of its candidate, Senator Miriam Defensor to the International Court of Justice (ICJ).
“Prime Minister Douglas indicated that he would recommend St. Kitts and Nevis’ support for the Philippines to his Cabinet,” said Ambassador Bart.
Prime Minister Douglas and President Arroyo are in New York for the 63rd General Assembly of the United Nations. ~~Adz:Right~~
