LPM reflects on the past year, and contemplates its future

Press Release

As long as there are thousands of frustrated Saint Lucians suffering from unemployment, rising crime, poor healthcare services, and an unfair system of governance and political patronage; as represented by the governing styles, of both the Saint Lucia Labour Party and United Workers Party in the last 60 years, the relevance of the Lucian People’s Movement (LPM) remains, the party said.

The LPM said it wished to make it clear that it is committed to the process of building an effective and broad based political organisation over the next four years that is truly representative of the hopes and aspirations of a wide cross section of the Saint Lucian people to achieve a society where opportunities for upward mobility are in abundance.

To this end, the LPM has embarked on a serious process of recruiting and vetting a full slate of candidates who are fully committed to the long and difficult process of political warfare, but who also have the necessary skills, sense of professionalism, and the educational background required to make that important transition from politics to administration.

These candidates will thereby be capable of offering the Saint Lucian people a national government it truly deserves in order to tackle the myriad social and economic problems which currently confront the nation.

CASTRIES, St Lucia -- A year after its very first electoral defeat in 2011, the Lucian People’s Movement (LPM) in St Lucia says it has emerged from the experience with a renewed sense of confidence about its future, undeterred by the challenges which lie ahead.
