                                      TRC Appoints Directors of Finance and Human Resources

    Mrs. Karia Christopher

     

    Roadtown, Tortola- The Board of the Telecommunications Regulatory Commission (TRC) has appointed Mr. Henry Kettle and Mrs. Karia Christopher to the posts of director of finance and economic affairs, and human resources and administration, respectively at the TRC.

     

    The director of finance and economic affairs is responsible for the TRC’s internal and external financial functions, including budget and financial management, cash flow management, collection and verification of licensee’s royalty and industry levy payments and the review of licensee’s audited financial statements and other statistical reports.  He is also responsible for reviewing all economic factors of the telecommunications industry and advising the commission on financial and economic matters, among others.

     

    The director of human resources manages the daily operations of the TRC and coaches employees to develop, implement and drive results to increase organisational effectiveness

    and efficiency.  

    The human resources director is also responsible for managing the administration of the human resources policies, procedures and programmes and carries out responsibilities in departmental development, employee relations, training and development, benefits, compensation, organisational development and employment.

     

    Mr. Kettle has a bachelor’s degree in accounting with a minor in systems and decision sciences from the Indiana State University and has been a certified QuickBooks Pro Advisor since 2002.

     

    Mrs. Christopher has a master’s degree in human resources management from the Robert J. Milano School for Management and Urban Policy at the New School University in New York; and a bachelor’s degree in business administration with a concentration in management from Alabama A&M University.  She is also certified in organisational change development.

     

    Prior to their appointments, Mr. Kettle was the accountant for Caribbean Cellular Telephone Limited and assistant accountant at HWR Services Limited while Mrs. Christopher was a corporate relationship manager at FirstCaribbean International Bank.   ~~Adz:Left~~

    She also served as a senior assistant human resources manager and was the first appointed sister island coordinator for the Government of the Virgin Islands (UK).  

    The TRC was established to licence and regulate the technical operations of telecommunications network and service providers in the Territory after liberalisation.
