Prime Minister saddened by loss of life following Japan tunnel collapse

    ST. GEORGE Grenada, December 3rd 2012 - Grenada has expressed condolences with the Government and people of Japan following the collapse of a tunnel that resulted in the death of about 7 people.

     

    Prime Minister Hon. Tillman Thomas, in his capacity as Minister for Foreign Affairs communicated the message to his Japanese counterpart, Hon. Yoshihiko Noda, Prime Minister of Japan, through that country’s Embassy in Port of Spain, Trinidad.

     

    The following is the full text of the message.

     

    “Prime Minister Noda, I am indeed saddened to learn of the unfortunate loss of lives as a result of the partial collapse of the Sasago Tunnel.

     

    On behalf of the Government and people of Grenada, I take this opportunity to express heartfelt condolences to the Japanese people, and particularly to the family, friends and loved-ones of the victims of this incident.

     

    Prime Minister Noda, please be assured of the friendship of the Grenadian people in this difficult time; and be further reassured of my highest consideration.”
