BASSETERRE, ST. KITTS, MAY 4TH 2005 (CUOPM) Residents of the expanding New Road Housing Development and the new residential areas at CARIFESTA Village, CARICOM Village and Douglas take possession of a new reservoir on Thursday.
The new 100,000 gallon water tank, part of the Governments Water Supply Improvement Programme, will be officially commissioned during a ceremony on the grounds on Thursday afternoon.
After the Invocation by Pastor Solomon Morton, Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Public Works, Utilities, Transport and Posts, Mr. Raphael Archibald will give the Welcome Remarks.
Project Manager, Mr. Athill Rawlins will give an overview of the Water Supply Improvement Project. Remarks will be made by Minister of Public Works, Utilities, Transport and Posts, Dr. the Hon. Earl Asim Martin, while Minister of Housing, Agriculture, Fisheries and Consumer Affairs, and Parliamentary Representative for the area, the Hon. Cedric Liburd will deliver the Feature Address.

Minister Martin told the Communications Unit of the Office of the Prime Minister Wednesday morning that the policy of the ruling St. Kitts-Nevis Labour Government is to ensure an adequate supply of water to residents at all times, is been undertaken by a $20 million project.
200,000 gallon reservoirs have been constructed at Cayon/Greenhill and Old Road and a 100,000 gallon tank has been built to improve the water supply to residents of Challengers. Reservoirs are to be constructed at Mattingley Heights, Conaree and Ogees.
Pipes have also been laid in New Road, Old Road, Taylors Village and Cayon and pumps have been constructed at Wash Ghut in Cayon, Parsons and Old Road.
