Sandy Point High School Class of 2002 Hosts Grand Ten Year Reunion

    BASSETERRE St. Kitts, December 11th 2012 - “The Roots of Education are Bitter but the Fruits are Sweet.” This was the motto of the 2002 Graduating Class of the Sandy Point High School now the Charles E. Mills Secondary School. Now, ten (10) years later, the students and supporters of the Graduating Class meet again to engage in activities geared to signify Reflection, Recognition and Revelry.

     

    From December 6th – 23rd the Class would be holding its 10 Year Reunion Celebration under the theme “Back To De Crew”. The Reunion Organizing Committee, headed by Ms. Dacil Heyliger, worked tirelessly to secure sponsorship and ensure the experience of a memorable Reunion.  A number of fundraising activities were executed beginning in June 2012, which included raffles, sale of customized wristbands, parties and car washes.

     

    At the School’s 46th Annual Speech Day and Graduation Ceremony, the Class of 2002 presented two (2) students; Ms. Shadica Isaac and Mr. Shemar Wilkins with the Most Improved First Formers Award for their development in Scholastics, Attitude and School Spirit.

     

    The first official event of the Reunion was held on Thursday 6th December where class members journeyed to the School and presented an All in One Wireless Printer/Scanner/ Copier and Fax Machine to the Social Sciences Division where it was graciously received and appreciated.

     

    On Monday 17th December at 6:00pm, A Candle Light Memorial Walk would be held through the streets of Sandy Point in remembrance of deceased classmates Mr. Eldrin Richardson and Mr. Kevin Rawlins.

     

    Other events will include a ‘Tip –Sea’ Moonlight Catamaran Cruise onboard the Irie Lime ($100) on Saturday 22nd December and An All School Beach Bash Clash on the following day.

     

    Ms. Heyliger indicated that the support from the class members, parents, teachers and the business community has been tremendous thus far and thanked all persons who contributed to making the Reunion a reality. Special mention was made of the St. Christopher Air and Sea Ports Authority, Brimstone Hill National Park, Ocean Terrace Inn, Carib Breweries Ltd, TDC Ltd, Mapau, Ricky Isaac, and the G-Spot Night Club who sponsored various fundraisers and Reunion Activities.

     

    Preparations are ongoing for the Actual Reunion Events and individuals and businesses are encouraged to pledge their support. Monetary contributions can be made at National Bank, Account # 142-462-455 or contact Ms. Dacil Heyliger at 664-8419.
