Constituency Three launches petition to remove Condor as Parliamentary Rep

Deputy Prime Minister Sam Condor

BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – MEMBERS of Constituency Number Three had held a public meeting, launched a petition and are organising a demonstration with a view to having the Hon. Sam Condor removed as their Parliamentary Representative.

SKNVibes was informed that last evening (Dec. 11) the West Basseterre constituents held a meeting at the St. Johnston Village Community Centre where views and concerns were expressed about their Representative’s recent behaviour, comments and what has been described as his failure to communicate with them on moves he would have made.

In recent times, Condor has vocalised his disagreement with actions taken by Prime Minister the Rt. Hon. Dr. Denzil L.Douglas concerning the conduct of the government’s business and with what he deemed inaccurate and misleading statements which he has made.

Speaking with this publication, Ashley Allers – a member of that constituency – explained that the meeting was a consequence of discussions amongst constituents about “what was happening in relation with our Representative”.

He said a meeting was originally planned for Sunday (Dec. 9) and, upon the request of Deputy Prime Minister Condor, it was shifted to last evening. A further request for rescheduling – Allers explained – was denied after considering the gravity of the situation.

“And then on Monday (Dec. 10), he asked to have the meeting rescheduled. We of the constituency – recognising the importance of the meeting – thought that the meeting should be convened on Tuesday as planned or as rescheduled according to the Representative. And so we had a favourable turnout. We had about 150 persons showing up to the meeting. They raised their concerns in relation to the Representative, his neglect to the constituency and also his accountability to the people who have voted for him.”

Ashley – who spoke on behalf the constituents – informed that one of the grievances the constituents have with their Parliamentary Representative is that he – amidst all the rumours and actions taken – did not meet with them seeking permission to act or indicating to them the course of action.

“We have learnt that our Representative was on WINN FM radio station this evening (Dec. 11) and he has refused to meet with the people of the constituency Number Three. And so, we the people of the constituency went along with the meeting that was scheduled for this evening and recognising the disrespect and the accountability from the Representative.”

In further support of their resolve, a petition has been launched for the removal of Condor as the Parliamentary Representative of Constituency Number Three. And, as explained by Allers, constituents who agree with the motion are being asked to affix their signature.

As at last night, more than 350 signatures were collected, Allers informed this publication, and a demonstration is scheduled for Saturday (Dec. 15) through the streets of De Village.

“We the constituents of Number Three are saying that our Parliamentary Representative has said nothing to us. He has gone beyond neglecting and supporting the Labour Party and the policies of the Labour Party, and we are asking that he be removed as the Parliamentary Representative of Constituency Number Three.”
