BASSETERRE, St. Kitts - PAUL 'FERGIE' FERGUSON, charged with threatening language allegedly made against the Speaker of the National Assembly, the Hon. Curtis Martin, was granted bail.

The bail was granted today (Dec. 12) at District ‘A’ Magistrate Court in Basseterre in the sum of EC$1 000 with one surety.

According to Ferguson's legal representative, Attorney-at-Law Chesley Hamilton, the former host of Winn FM's call-in programme 'Voices', would have to be back in court on February 4, 2013 to answer to the charge that was laid against him and that he would be entering a plea of "not guilty".

Hamilton also informed that, as one of the conditions of his bail, Ferguson would have to stay at least 50 feet away from Martin.

The Attorney revealed that he would also be making applications for a disclosure so as to be fully informed of the virtual complainant's side of the story.

Information reaching this media house states that on Saturday night (Dec. 8), while at one of the business entities at The Strip in Frigate Bay, Ferguson saw Martin in the company of a female and allegedly attempted to take his photograph.

It further states that Martin was not in agreement with this and a verbal confrontation ensued, in which it is said Ferguson allegedly used threatening language to him.

The matter was reported to the Frigate Bay Police Station and this media house learned that a warrant was issued for Ferguson’s arrest.

Additional information states that police officers, armed with M16 Rifles, arrested Ferguson at about 5:00 p.m. yesterday and took him into custody at the Frigate Bay Police Station.

He was subsequently charged with threatening language.

Ferguson was released on bail after being processed - fingerprinted and photographed.
