BASSETERRE, St. Kitts - ON a routine trip this morning (Dec. 16) between St. Kitts and Nevis, the Sea Bridge encountered engine problems which caused it to drift off its course to Nevis.
Shortly after noon today, SKNVibes spoke with the owner of the vessel, Rawlinson Isaac, who explained that the craft encountered an “airlock’, caused by a blockage of the flow of fuel, during a regular engine switch over.
He said that though this problem is not strange to them, it is causing the workers onboard some difficulty because it has occurred out at sea instead of closer to the shore.
Isaac stated that the employees onboard were working assiduously on resolving the problem and they had indicated that they would have bled the engine in order to get back on course.
He also stated at that time that the captain informed that they were making some progress.
Isaac also disclosed that at the time of the breakdown they were some passengers onboard, but there was no threat to limb or life.
He also dispelled rumours of the boat drifting away from the shore.
Shortly before press time, a reliable source informed this publication that the vessel was earlier towed to Nevis.
