Community Nursing Department Holds Mop up Vaccination Activities

    ST. GEORGE’S, Grenada, December 17th, 2012 – Over the next two months, the Ministry of Health will conduct a series of vaccination out-reach mop-up activities in all six health districts across Grenada.

     

    The purpose of the mop-up are to ensure that children zero to six years (0-6) old, who missed their (vaccination booster) are being given another opportunity to completed their vaccination series.

     

    Manager of the Ministry's Extended Program on Immunization, Ns. Allyson Clouden on Monday explained that it is a strategy of the Community Nursing Department (CND) to ensure that all children within the specified age range complete the vaccination series for the period 2011-2012.

     

    According to Clouden the decision was taken that from December 16, 2012, nurses within then various districts will be performing immunization services within the normal hours of work.

     

    She added that a successful completion of the activities could result in the Ministry attaining a 100% vaccination coverage.
