                                                                               Teacher's Week 2008

    ~~Adz:Left~~ Roadtown, Tortola - The British Virgin Islands Teachers’ Union and all educators in the Territory will be celebrating Teachers Appreciation Week from 5-12 October.

     

    President of the local Union Cecil Hodge announced that for the past years the Union has been organizing various events and means of observing Teachers Day which is slated for 5 October. “Even though last year we did not have our usual week long celebration, we still observed Teachers Day, because it is important that time is taken to recognize the important role that educators play in our community and in the world in general.”

     

    Mr. Hodge disclosed that a number of activities to celebrate Teachers Week 2008 has been organized. The week will commence with a church service at the Church of God of Holiness in Huntums Ghut, and will continue to be marked with: A healthy walk, a volley ball tournament, seminars with Education International officials and a special panel discussion featuring Ministry of Education Representatives.

     

    The BVI Teachers Union is encouraging students to show appreciation to the various educators in their schools in observance of Teachers’ Week and onward.
