New Confirmation Station to Ease Rush at Electoral Office

Persons cue in line to confirm and register at the Electoral Office in St. Kitts
Basseterre, St. Kitts, October 03, 2008 (SKNIS): Officials are encouraging residents not to delay in confirming their registration status at the Electoral Offices in St. Kitts and Nevis.

A decision was made to extend the confirmation period, which was set to expire on September 30th, to allow persons who have not yet confirmed their status to do so. The confirmation deadline is now October 4 as authorized under the National Assembly Elections Order.

The deadline was revised with the consideration that scores of persons continue to cue outside the Electoral Office in St. Kitts to confirm their voter status.

In order to accommodate as many persons as possible, a confirmation station has been setup on the bottom floor of the old Ministry of Health Building on Church Street. The station will begin operations at 10:00 a.m. today.

Supervisor of Elections Pastor Leroy Benjamin told SKNIS that the station will only be used to confirm persons. No new registration will be done at the site. The station will be available for confirmation on Friday, October 3 and Saturday, October 4, 2008.

Persons wishing to register for the first time can do so at the Electoral Offices in St. Kitts and Nevis.   ~~Adz:Right~~
