Douglas joined several thousands residents, returning nationals and visitors in downtown Basseterre  Wednesday morning view and celebrate the annual J’ouvert as part of the National Carnival celebrations 2012/2013.

Thousands greeted the St. Kitts and Nevis Leader with best wishes for the Christmas/Carnival Season and renewed their support for his leadership in the New Year.

It was said to be one of the best Jouvert in years. There was colour in galore and quite a spectacle for one to see as the various Jouvert troupes gyrating to the sounds of the potential 2012/2013 Road March tunes such as One Order by Nu Vybez Band International; Drop, Cover, Hold On by Small Axe International; Tek It to Dem by Grand Masters; Big Shake by Kollision; Cook pon wood by Fantastic Thunder and Going by the Breath by King Konris.

Generation Extreme Revolution, Glo Devils; Buccaneers J’ouvert Revellers, Madri Gras Mas Jumbies and Hollywood paraded from their starting point towards Fort Street.

The Security Forces were out in their numbers taking a zero tolerance approach to crime and violence especially in the jam session.

ZIZ Radio, ZIZ Television, ZIZOnline.com, WINNFM, Freedomskn Radio and Sugar City Rock brought the action live from Fort Street, Basseterre as the Jouvert troupes and bands circled the area and as they passed the different judging points playing their popular road march tunes.

The attention now turns to the carnival shows and revelers will be looking forward to  New Year’s Day January 1st  when the troupes and bands along with the folklore will be hitting the streets once again in an atmosphere of frenzy for Last Lap.
