BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – ONE of Jamaica’s veteran dancehall artistes, Elephant Man, who is internationally known as the ‘Energy God’, is expected to return to St. Kitts and Nevis to kick off his New Year engagements, after a period of almost four years since his last show in the twin-island Federation.
SKNVibes recently found out about this entertainment buzz in an online article by the Jamaica Gleaner, dated Thursday, January 3, 2013 and headlined: “The Art Of Being Seen - Artistes Look For More Visibility In New Year”.
In that article, the reporter, Sadeke Brooks, revealed, “Already an established act, Elephant Man says he has shows in the United States, Jamaica and St Kitts to kick off the new year.”
While there is no official local promotion as yet about Elephant Man’s pending performance, SKNVibes has not heard any ‘talk in the streets’ either, which begs the question, just who or which entertainment company/group is planning to bring the Energy God back to St. Kitts/Nevis?
More information highlighted by The Gleaner about Elephant Man is that by Summer, the artiste intends to do his final album with VP Records; however, with no intention of signing a new contract with the record company.
"You have nuff big company who would like to do work with Elephant man. We do long enough wid VP, no disrespect to VP, big up VP," Elephant Man is quoted as saying.
Notably, the New York-based VP Connected Entertainment Company has worked with a number of internationally-acclaimed artistes such as Elephant Man, including organising his past shows in St. Kitts/Nevis.
In 2008, Elephant Man performed at a B-mobile Monthly Customer Appreciation Party, dubbed ‘Crackdown’, which was held at Club Kactus and featured fellow Jamaican artistes Harry Toddler and Rassarella.
Prior to that, in March 2006, he performed in concert at Carnival Village. Additionally, he performed on the 2003 production of the annual St. Kitts Music Festival.
Undoubtedly, Elephant Man has lived up to his name as the ‘Energy God’ and many people in St. Kitts and Nevis who have seen him perform live, know that his performances usually include climbing stationary stage props, like speakers, and leaping from them.
He also enjoys jumping into crowds and dancing onstage with voluptuous female fans.
He is known for a number of hit tunes over the years, including ‘Five –O’, ‘Pon Di River’ ‘Jook Gal’ ‘Nuh Linga’ and ‘Willie Bounce’.

Apart from his high energy, Elephant Man is known for having his unique style of dressing from his clothes to jewellery and not forgetting his hair dos, including the signature half-dyed red and yellow hair.
For many fans, music lovers and supporters of Elephant Man’s music in the Federation, this undoubtedly is excellent entertainment news for the New Year. Likewise, the artiste had always conveyed his pleasure to being before his audience in the Federation because of the love and support hs receives.
