    BASSETERRE St. Kitts, January 10th, 2013  --  The National Committee for the Prevention of Alcoholism and Drug Dependency in Barbados declares January in Barbados as Drug Awareness Month.
     
    Drug Awareness Month is designed to provide promotional and training opportunities and consists of lectures and demonstrations??to work places, faith-based organizations, schools, youth groups and health groups and to collaborate with the media to highlight??the resources available to help reduce the problems associated with drugs.
     
    This year the organization as part of the month long activities has invited Mr. Daniel MacMullin of Operation Future to Barbados for three days, January 16th to 19th to address various organizations including; schools, youth groups, professional groups, professionals working with youth, faith base groups and the media about issues of criminal youth gangs.  This request has come as a result of the recognition of Operation Future’s program that looks to develop sustainable solutions through education and social intervention to issues of youth, crime and violence. 
     
    While in Barbados Operation Future hopes to profile their Community educational presentations, the primary and secondary school gang awareness and intervention programs, the newly launch Creative Youth Academy and their work with Her Majesty’s Prison as a means to educate youth and the general public. 
     
    Previously, President P.C. Lauston Percival has had the opportunity to address schools in Barbados with regards to Operation Future’s Anti-Bullying Presentation. 
     
    Operation Future is proud that other nations are recognizing the creative and sustainable programs developed by Operation Future in St Kitts & Nevis and, is pleased to profile the Federation as a nation taking a proactive approach to the issues of youth crime and violence.
