BASSETERRE ST. Kitts, January 11th, 2013 -- On learning of the passing of Mr. William A Kelsick, OBE, CSM, former Chairman and Managing Director of the Horsford’s Group of Companies, Dr The Hon Timothy Harris – Senior Minister - praised the legacy of this renowned businessman.
Dr Harris – in a letter of condolence to the current Chairman and Managing Director of the Group, Mr. Anthony Kelsick – asserted that the legacy of Mr. William A Kelsick, OBE, CSM, “is an enduring and awe-inspiring one of adherence to principle and integrity, outstanding leadership, commitment and zeal”. He noted further that all of the foregoing accolades are “values that the populace should seek to cherish and emulate”.
The Minister, who holds responsibility for the portfolios of International Trade, Industry, Commerce and Consumer Affairs, also indicated that “the contribution that the late Mr. Kelsick made to this Federation – in business and other spheres – is phenomenal.”
Additionally, Dr. Harris described the dear departed Mr. Kelsick as “a colossus who bestrode the Nation with an ever present aura and command of knowledge, vision, confidence and wisdom”, and added that “he buttressed these excellent attributes with a willingness and readiness to share them with all whom he came in contact with”.
“While he was a shrewd and consummate negotiator, particularly in relation to the sugar industry and Carib Brewery (St Kitts and Nevis) Ltd”, Dr Harris added that Mr. Kelsick “was also very gracious and magnanimous in arriving at many a consensus to further the development of the country”.
Minister Harris also intoned that “It is an accepted truism throughout our communities that Mr. Kelsick led the Horsfords Group with tremendous astuteness and aplomb, and that he was able to utilize these formidable qualities in other organizations that he represented, including the St Kitts-Nevis Chamber of Industry and Commerce and the Caribbean Association of Industry and Commerce”.
