One juvenile jailed for robbery & wounding; another on probation

    BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – TWO juveniles were among four persons convicted last week for offences which they were found guilty, while three men were charged for possession of illegal drugs and another for a wounding offence.

     

    According to a police press release, a juvenile appeared at the Basseterre Magistrate’s Court charged with robbery and wounding; offences he had committed on Tuesday, November 20, 2012.

     

    He was found guilty of both offences, convicted and sentenced to 30 days imprisonment at Her Majesty’s Prison.

     

    Appearing at the same court was another juvenile charged with carrying abroad an offensive weapon, which was committed on Friday, September 21, 2012. He was however spared jail time and instead convicted and placed on probation for 12 months in the sum of $1 000 to keep the peace and be of good behaviour.

     

    Also appearing at the Basseterre magistrate’s Court were Janice Dickenson of Sandy Point and Livingston Carey of Tabernacle Village.

     

    Dickenson was convicted for permitting to drive without a relevant driver's licence and permitting to drive without insurance. These offences were committed on Sunday, April 8, 2012. She was however cautioned.

     

    Carey was convicted for driving without a valid and unexpired licence, driving without insurance and driving without due care and attention, which were committed in Lodge on Sunday, April 8, 2012.

     

    He was cautioned for the third offence but fined $200 for the first one, which is to be paid in two weeks or in default serve one week in prison. And for the second offence, he was fined $500, which is to be paid in two weeks or in default serve 14 days in prison.

     

    Those arrested are Nyjah Adams and Ronald Berry, both of Buckley’s Estate, Robelto Noel of McKnight and Cleon Gilbert of Lower Cayon.

     

    Adams and Ronald were jointly charged with possession of cannabis and possession with intent to supply. The offences were allegedly committed on Wednesday (Jan. 9).

     

    Noel was slapped with three charges - possession of cannabis, resisting arrest and escaping lawful custody. These offences were allegedly committed also on Wednesday (Jan. 9).

     

    And Gilbert was charged with causing grievous bodily harm, allegedly committed at the Carambola Beach Club at South Friars on Wednesday, December 19, 2012.
