    Arrests/Court convictions

    ~~Adz:Right~~ BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – OVER the past week a number of persons were arrested and charged for allegedly committing criminal acts and are scheduled to appear before the court shortly.

     

    An Upper Monkey Hill juvenile was arrested and charged with the offence of “carrying abroad an offensive weapon” while Dwight James, a Farm Site, Sandy Point resident was arrested and charged with the offence of “unlawful carnal knowledge”.

     

    Craddock Road, Nevis residents Glenroy Bryant and Brian Fordyce were arrested and charged following the execution of a search warrant on their property. The search, according to police, yielded “a quantity of marijuana”. And in an unrelated incident, Craddock Road, Nevis resident Fitzjoel Martin was arrested and charged with “possession of cannabis”.

     

    Charges of “larceny” and “battery on police” were preferred against Kimberly Byron of Ponds Extension while Newtown Ground Village resident Jamaine Liburd was arrested and charged with the offence of “wounding”, which, according to police, was committed on October 2, 2008.
     
    “Possession of cannabis”, “driving without a licence” and “driving without insurance” were the charges brought against Upper Cayon resident Grandville Dore. Also, Nathaniel Thompson of Lower Cayon was arrested and charged with “possession of cannabis”, “permitting another person to drive without a licence” and “permitting another person to drive without insurance”.
     
    For October 4, 2008 offences of “possession of cannabis” and “possession of ammunition”, Dwayne Byron and Jayron Frazer of Jessup Village were arrested and charged.

     

    An Upper Shaw Avenue juvenile (16) was arrested and charged for an October 2, 2008 offence of “assault”.

     

    Palmetto Point residents Courtney and Lesroy Queeley were jointly arrested and charged with “battery on police”, “resisting arrest” and “obstruction”. According to police, each individual was issued two counts of charge and the offences were committed on October 5, 2008.

     


    COURT CONVICTION

     

    A USVI resident was ordered to leave the country forthwith after he was convicted of a criminal offence late last week.

     

    Kory Penn of St. Thomas, Virgin Island but who, according to police, resided at Number 6 Earle Vacation Home at College Housing, was convicted of “making use of threatening language” and fined a sum of $1 000 which was to have been paid forthwith. If he failed the pay the sum, a one-month custodial sentence would have been imposed. In addition to the fine, Penn was ordered by the Magistrate to leave the Federation immediately, especially in light of the fact that he had “overstayed his visitation period”. According to police, Penn has since left the Federation.

     

    A 16-year-old of Walwyn Street has begun serving his stint at Her Majesty’s Prison as punishment for a “house breaking and larceny” offence. The lad appeared before the District “A” Magistrate’s Court on Monday where the matter was dealt with.  The offence was committed on July 20, 2008.

     

    Another juvenile who appeared before the same court, having been charged with October 1, 2008 offences of “making use of indecent language” and “making use of threatening language”, was sentenced to serve 14 days imprisonment on the first charge and was severely cautioned on the second.
