BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – WHILE others were hustling to their places of employment yesterday morning (Jan. 15), an Emergency Medical Services (EMS) team and police officers were busy attending to individuals involved in a traffic accident that left two treating head injuries.
The incident – according to information this publication received from the Traffic Department – occurred along the Frigate Bay Road in the vicinity of Sun Edge Apartments.
The 7:45 a.m. incident involved motor car PA4837, owned and driven by Wayne Allen of Taylors Housing Project. and motor tractor P1823, owned by the Frigate Bay Development Corporation and driven by Royston Dore of Lamberts.
According to the circumstances as relayed by the Traffic Department, both vehicles were travelling in an easterly direction with the motorcar positioned at the back of the tractor.
The driver of the car explained that the sun’s glare affected his vision and when he made an attempt to shift the sun visor in a downward position, he collided with the cart attached to the rear of the tractor.
The two passengers of the motorcar were transported to the Joseph N. France General Hospital for treatment for injuries to their heads and faces.
The extent of the injuries and current state are not yet known by this media house, but the motorcar was extensively damaged.
The Traffic Department informs that a notice of intended prosecution was served and investigations into the incident are ongoing.
