Press Release

ST. GEORGE’S, Grenada, January 18th 2012 – The refurbishment of the Paradise Medical Station will commence on Monday, January 21, 2013. The announcement was made today by the Planning Unit in the Ministry of Health.

A senior member of the Unit today confirmed that the renovation of the building will be done in phases and will include the overhauling of the electrical system, upgrading of the patients waiting area and the covering of the walk-way leading to the patient’s washroom.

She said the first phase is expected to cost EC$50,644.00; and that the Ministry is expecting the second phase to be funded externally.

In June of 2012, services at the Paradise Medical Station were suspended and the building was decommissioned due mainly to concerns raised about the electrical system.

Meanwhile plans are also underway for the start of renovation works at Vincennes Medical Station in St. David. Health officials say works will begin on Monday, January 28, 2013, to the tune of EC$15, 693.00. It will include the changing of doors, and addressing the termite infestation problem.
