CCM Celebrates Victory

    BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – TODAY (Jan. 22) is Polling Day on Nevis and reporters of SKNVibes are on the island with the aim of keeping visitors to this site informed on its progress. Therefore, on a timely basis, reports will be posted, beginning with the most recent. 

     

    Conclusively, the CCM has won the Nevis Local Elections and will be leading the citizens and residents on that island for the next five years, following its three-two win over the NRP.

     

    The final results are as follow:

     

    1. Joseph Parry, NRP’s candidate for Nevis Five (St. James Parish), gained a landslide victory over CCM’s candidate Keith Scarborough, winning by 307 with a total of 483 votes against his opponent’s 176;

     

    2. Robelto Hector, NRP’s candidate for Nevis One (St. Paul’s Parish), defeated CCM’s candidate Spencer Brand by 91 votes, winning with a count of 730 votes against the newcomer’s 639;

     

    3. Leader of the CCM and candidate for Nevis Three, Vance Amory, once again trounced Patricia Hanley of the NRP. This time, however, by 518. He gained a total of 713 votes against her 195;

     

    4. Once again, NRP’s candidate for Nevis Four, Patrice Nisbett, has lost to CCM’s Alexis Jeffers. Nisbett lost by 220 votes, with Jeffers tallying 980 votes and he taking 760;

     

    5. And finally, in the controversial Nevis Two, CCM’s Mark Brantley gained victory over NRP’s Hensley Daniel by 236 votes. Brantley tallied 1,580 votes while Daniel gained 1,344.

     

    6:58 a.m. - Election Results at Nevis Two (St. John's): Division #4A - NRP's Hensley Daniel 99 votes and CCM's Mark Brantley 81 from a possible 181 votes with 1 spoilt ballot. Division #4B - NRP's Hensley Daniel 123 votes and Mark Brantley 77 votes with 1 spoilt vote. Brantley was declared winner of Nevis Two.

     

    6:00 a.m.- With both Cox boxes still out, CCM supporters are already celebrating a victory. Showers of blessings descended on Nevis as the final ballots are being counted.

     

    5:25 a.m. - Election Results at Nevis Two (St. Johm's): Division #3C - NRP's Hensley Daniel 135 votes and CCM's Mark Brantley 116 from a possible 254 votes with 3 spoilt ballots. Division #3D - NRP's Hensley Daniel 96 votes and Mark Brantley 126 votes with 1 spoilt vote. Brantley now leads Daniel by 304 votes.

     

    3:43 a.m. - Election Results at Nevis Two (St. John's): Division #3B - NRP's Hensley Daniel 104 votes and CCM's Mark Brantley 200 from a possible 310 votes with 6 spoilt ballots. Brantley now leads Daniel by 293 votes.

     

    2:29 a.m. - Election Results at Nevis Four (St. James): Division #5A  - NRP's Patrice Nisbett 80 votes and CCM's Alexis Jeffers 135 votes from a possible 225 with no spoilt ballot. Division #5B - NRP's Patrice Nisbett 96 votes and Alexis Jeffers 157 votes from a possible 255 votes with 2 spoilt votes. Alexis Jeffers has gained a total of 980 votes against Patrice Nisbett's 760. Jeffers was declared winner of the Constiuency, thus retaining his seat.

     

    2:43 a.m. - Election Results at Nevis Two (St. John's): Division #3A - NRP's Hensley Daniel 102 votes and CCM's Mark Brantley 180 from a possible 286 votes with 4 spoilt ballots. Brantley now Leads Daniel by 193 votes.

     

    1:50 a.m. - Election Results at Nevis Two (St. John's): Division #2D  - NRP's Hensley Daniel 115 votes and CCM's Mark Brantley 93 votes from a possible 205 votes with one spoilt ballot. Hensley Daniel has further reduced Mark Brantley's lead 22, with the CCM's candidate tally being 804 against Daniel's 698. spoilt ballot. Hensley Daniel has now reduced Mark Brantley's lead by 10, with the CCM's candidate tally being 711 against NRP's candidate's 574; a lead of 137 votes. 
     
    12:38 a.m. - Election Results at Nevis Four (St. James): Division #4  - NRP's Patrice Nisbett 155 votes and Alexis Jeffers 166 votes from a possible 321 with no spoilt vote. Alexis Jeffers now leads Patrice Nisbett by 223 votes.
     
     
    12:25 a.m. - Election Results at Nevis Two (St. John's): Division #2B  - NRP's Hensley Daniel 112 votes and CCM's Mark Brantley 124 votes with 6 spoilt ballots. Mark Brantley now leads Hensley Daniel by 147 votes. 

     

    11:43 p.m. - Election Results at Nevis One (St. Paul's): Division #3  - NRP's Robelto Hector 122 votes and CCM's Spencer Brand 152 votes from a possible 275 votes with 1 spoilt ballot. Box #4 - NRP's Robelto Hector 60 votes and Spencer Brand 43 votes from a possible 103 votes with no spoilt ballot. Robelto Hector has a total of 730 votes against Spencer Brand's 639 votes, making him winner of that Constituency and retaining his seat. 
     
    11:30 p.m. - Election Results at Nevis Five (St. Thomas): Division #3  - NRP's Joseph Parry 63 votes and CCM's Keith Scarborough 44 votes from a possible 108 votes. There was 1 spoilt vote and Joseph Parry has a total of 483 votes against Keith Scarborough's 176, making him winner of that Constituency and retaining his seat.
     
     
    11:29 p.m. - Election Results at Nevis Two (St. John's): Division #2A  - NRP's Hensley Daniel 116 votes and CCM's Mark Brantley 153 from a possible 271 votes. There  were 2 spoilt ballots and Mark Brantley now leads Hensley Daniel by 135 votes.
     
     
    11:28 p.m. - Election Results at Nevis Four (St. James): Box #3  - NRP's Patrice Nisbett 135 votes and Alexis Jeffers 159 votes from a possible 294 votes. There was no spoilt vote and Alexis Jeffers now leads Patrice Nisbett by 83 votes. 
     
     
    10:49 p.m. - Election Results at Nevis Five (St. Thomas): Box #2  - NRP's Joseph Parry 224 votes and CCM's Keith Scarborough 54 votes from a possible 280 votes. There were 2 spoilt ballots and Joseph Parry now leads Keith Scarborough by 282 votes.
     
     
    10:40 p.m. - Election Results at Nevis Three (St. George's): Division #5  - NRP's Patricia Hanley 31 votes and CCM's Vance Amory 120 votes from a possible 151 votes. There was no spoilt ballot and Vance Amory of the CCM was declared winner, thus retaining his seat. He gained a total of 713 votes against Hanley's 195.
     
     
    10:38 p.m. - Election Results at Nevis Two (St. John's): Division #1B  - NRP's Hensley Daniel 101 votes and CCM's Mark Brantley 169 votes from a possible 272 votes. There were 2 spoilt ballots and Mark Brantley now leads Hensley Daniel by 98 votes.
     
     
    10:35 p.m. - Election Results at Nevis One (St. Paul's): Division#2A  - NRP's Robelto Hector 135 votes and Spencer Brand 109 votes from a possible 244 votes with no spoilt ballot. Box #2B - NRP's Robelto Hector 145 votes and CCM's Spencer Brand 78 votes from a possible 223 votes. There were no spoilt ballot and Robelto Hector now leads Spencer by 255 votes and he, too, seems to be on his way in retaining his seat.
     
     
    10:25 p.m. - Election Results at Nevis Three (St. George's): Division # 4 - NRP's Patricia Hanley 37 votes and CCM's Vance Amory 244 votes from a possible 281 votes. There was no spoilt ballot and Vance Amory now leads Patricia Hanley by 429 votes and CCM seems to have won this seat.
     

     

    10:24 p.m. - Election Results at Nevis Four (St. James): Division #2 - NRP's Patrice Nisbett 142 votes and CCM's Alexis Jeffers 192 votes from a possible 335 votes with 1 spoilt vote. Alexis Jeffers leads Patrice Nisbett by 59 votes.

     

    9:48 p.m. - Election Results at Nevis Three (St. George's): Division # 1 - NRP's Patricia Hanley 22 votes and CCM's Vance Amory 78 votes. Box #2 - Patricia Hanley 34 votes and Vance Amory 87 votes. Box #3 - Patricia Hanley 71 votes and Vance Amory 184 votes from a possible 484 votes. There were 8 spoilt ballots and Vance Amory leads by 222 votes.  
     
    9:47 p.m. - Election Results at Nevis Two (St. John's): Division# 1 - NRP's Hensley Daniel 131 votes and CCM's Mark Brantley 161 votes from a possible 293. There was one spoilt ballot and Mark Brantley leads by 30.
     
     
    9:46 p.m. - Election Results at Nevis Five (St. Thomas): Division # 1 - NRP's Joseph Parry 196 votes and CCM's Keith Scarborough 78 votes from a possible 275. There was one spoilt ballot and Joseph Parry leads by 118.
     
     
    9:45 p.m. - Election Results at Nevis Four (St. James): Division # 1 - NRP's Patrice Nisbett 152 votes and CCM's Alexis Jeffers 161 votes out of a possible 316 votes. There were three spoilt ballots and Alexis Jeffers leads by 9.
     
     
    9:30 p.m. - Election Results at Nevis One (St. Paul's): Box # 1A - NRP's Robelto Hector 128 votes and CCM's Spencer Brand 141 votes. Box # 1B - NRP's Robelto Hector 140 votes and CCM's Spencer Brand 116 votes. There was no spoilt ballot and Hector leads by 11.
     
     
    8:50 p.m. - Supervisor of Elections Raphael Archibald just arrived at the Charlestown Police Station where he will be announcing the results.
     
     
    7:53 p.m. - New Castle Police Station ballot boxes being collected by security force personnel.
     
     
    7: 50 p.m. - The ballots for Constituency Number Two are presently at the Police Barracks Poling Station in Bath where they will be counted, beginning at 8 p.m.
     
     
    7:45 p.m. - Security Officers have just collected Ballot boxes from the Church of God, Brick Kiln (Nevis 4) Polling Division.
     
     
    7:42 p.m. - A founding member of the Concerned Citizen Movement now an NRP supporter predicts that the CCM party would experience a major loss; losing four of three seats.
     
     
    7:29 p.m. - After taking some time at the Senior Citizen Home in Prospect, ballot boxes are now being picked up at the United Pentecostal Church in Marion Heights in Constituency Number Two.
     
     
    7:18 p.m. - Ballot boxes are now being picked up at the Senior Citizen Home in Prospect in Constituency Number Two.
     
     
    7:13 p.m. - Supporters cheer as ballot boxes are taken into a large school bus at the Special Education Unit in Prospect in Constituency Number Two.
     
     
    7:10 p.m. - An NRP supporter said there will be a landslide victory tonight.
     
     
    7:05 p.m. - 7:05 p.m. Ballot boxes were picked up at Special Education Unit at Prospect in Constituency Number Two.
     
     
    6: 55 p.m. - The boxes at Brown Pasture are being collected.
     
     
    6:51 p.m. - Ballot boxes from Church of God in Cox are now on their way to be counted. 
     
     
    6:45 p.m. - Many people have gathered in vicinity of the Brick Klin Polling Station awaiting the collection of the ballot box.
     
     
    6:43 p.m. - "I know we delivered a Cox box again," said an NRP supporter.
     
     
    6:41 p.m. - About 41 more people voted in Cox at this Election compared with those of last year.

     

    6:37 p.m. - One Cox resident said that today about five NRP supporters were turned back for not having proper voting IDs. 
     
    6:30 p.m. - SKNVibes understands that voters at  Butlers Polling Station (Nevis Four) stood their ground in preventing five individuals, presumed to be Kittitians, from casting ballots.
     
     
    6:05 p.m. - A lady said that a resident of Cox in St. John's was turned back from voting because he did not have an ID. He was told by the polling officers that he had to have an ID. Further, a lawyer who was present called one of the electoral officers who then told the polling officer that the man could vote once he takes an oath. The lady said the man was told at 5:58 p.m. the polls were closed.
     
     
    6:00 p.m. - Voters at St. Thomas Primary School and the Cotton Ground Health Centre have dwindled to nothing and polling stations are closing.

    5:50 p.m. - Things seems to be heating up in St. John's at the Church of God in Cox where the NRP and CCM supporters have taken up their own section of the road and seem to be keenly monitoring the people who are voting.
     
     
    5:46 p.m.- Constituency Number One (St. Paul's) is very quiet with just a few persons at the polling stations, as voting in the Nevis Elections is about to end.
     
     
    4:15 p.m. - "All I say is that I remain confident in the goodwill of the people," NRP's Hensley Daniel told SKNVibes two hours before closure of the polls.
     
     
    4:08 p.m. - "Voter turnout has been very heavy, especially during the first part of the day," says NRP's Patrice Nisbett.
     
     
    4:00 p.m. - CCM's rep for Constituency Number One Spencer Brand said, "The turnout seems to be a bit on the low side but I am pretty confident with what I call the exit polls. I think it is looking positive for us. I am pretty confident that I will be victorious."
     
     
    2:00 p.m. - One person seen casting his vote at the Church of God of Prophesy (Fenton Hill). Other than that, things are quiet at this station. No CCM or NRP representatives were around from whom to get information.
     
     
    1:37 p.m. - The queue at the Bricklin Church of God has lengthened considerably and the traffic of voters is steady, but both CCM and NRP representatives complained that the voting process is taking too long with most persons spending up to two hours before they would have completed the process. Nonetheless, all are determined to make their vote count.
     
     
    1:32- CCM's Candidate for Constituency Number Three Vance Amory said that he was visiting various polling stations lending his support towards his fellow candidates. He said that once there is no undue irregularities he thinks his party has a very good chance of being victorious.
     
     
    1:25 p.m. - CCM's Constituency Number Three Representative Vance Amory said, "I don't think anyone would be happy with a List that should have been given out yesterday to the polling stations to start the polling today. It wasn't given out until, in some areas, 12:00 p.m. today. That cannot be anything that any of us can be happy about...that is critical. Without a proper List anything can happen in the Elections. That is my biggest concern!"
     
     
    1:18-  Constituency Three Representative for CCM, Vance Amory was at the Special Education Unit polling station in Prospect and said that the Elections have so far been peaceful.
     
     
    1: 10 p.m. - CCM rep: "Since about 7:30 a.m. the traffic has been pretty consistent. A good number of our supporters have turned out and we are pleased with that. We are brimming with confidence."
     
     
    NRP rep: "We are pleased thus far with the NRP supporters coming out to vote. We expect an influx sometime after 3:00 when persons are finished working."
     
     
    12:22 p.m. - There has been little to no voting activities at the following polling stations: Shiloh Batist Church, Methodist Conference Centre, and the Magistrate's and High Courts.
     
     
    12:20 p.m. - An NRP representative who was monitoring traffic at the Trinity Methodist Church Hall (Nevis 4) said the NRP Choir has been singing graciously and loudly throughout the course of the morning and it is anticipated that the refrain would continue into the evening. And the song they sang is, "Victory is mine!"
     
     
    12:00 p.m. - One woman with whom we spoke said she is on her way to the Newcastle Police Station and she seems anxious and happy to place her 'X'.
     
     
    11:51 a.m. - A woman from Church Ground who voted in Constituency Number Two at the United Pentecostal Church said that she found the elections peaceful so far.
     
     
    9:53 a.m.  - So far the Nevis Elections have been somewhat peaceful, specifically with the presence of heavy security.
     
     
    8:06 a.m. - CARICOM Observer Mission currently reviewing List at the Senior Citizen's Home in Constituency Number Two. 
     
    8:04 a.m. - CCM's Mark Brantley arrives at Prospect's Senior Citizen Home in Constituency Number two.

     

    7:58 a.m. - Voting underway at Special Education Unit in Prospect in Constituency Number two where some 20 persons are executing their constitutional right. 
     
    7:46 a.m. - The line of voters at the Butler's Health Centre (Nevis 4 - Polling Division 1) has lengthened with some 30 persons waiting to cast their ballot. Persons are engaging in friendly conversation to pass the time.
     
     
    7:45 a.m. - Approximately 10 persons are in queue at the Brick Kiln Church of God in Constituency Number Four waiting to place their 'X'. Persons seem relaxed anD patient as they are about to exercise their franchise.
     
     
    7:08 a.m. - "I am going to give Mark Brantley my vote now," says Cox Village man.
     
     
    7:08 a.m. - CCM's Mark Brantley just arrived in blue T-shirt and jeans at Church of God of Prophecy Church in Cox Village where he is registered to vote.
     
     
    7:05 a.m. - Persons are lined up and ready to vote at St. Johns Primary School in Brown Pasture.
     
     
    7:00 a.m. - Over 30 persons in queue at Special Education School in Prospect to begin voting.
     
     
    6:50 a.m. - Ten minutes before the polls open and NRP candidate for St. James (Patrice Nisbett) told SKNVibes his victory is sure.
     
     
    6:45 a.m. - Polls open at 7:00 a.m. and persons have already gathered at the Newcastle Police Station patiently waiting to cast their vote.
     
     
    6:34 a.m. - Ballot boxes arrived at Elderly Home in Prospect.
