Hon. Shawn Richards

BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – POLITICAL LEADER of the People’s Action Movement, Shawn K. Richards said that he would be seeking legal advice for recent allegations made against him on the Vote NRP’s Facebook Fanpage.

Richards said he was made aware of the posting, which was done yesterday (Jan. 21), stating that he and Richard Caines were spotted in the areas of Bricklin and Brown Hill and that people were “getting their hands greased”.

In a blackberry message broadcast, Richards sent out a statement stating that he understands the post to claim that he and Caines were campaigning and also insinuates that money is being paid to persons to influence their vote.

“Let me for the record state that since Friday, January 18th, I have been out of the Federation and still is.

“I therefore find the posting to be most untruthful and offensive and it is my intention to seek legal advice on the allegation of bribery contained in the same posting,” he said.

The posting, in its entirety, states, “Richard Caines and Shawn Richards have recently been spotted in the areas of Brickiln and Brown Hill! They like to talk about Denzil Douglas “come owaa” but why have these two PAM personalities “come owaa” to Nevis on the eve of the election and why these two areas of all places? NRP people, please to be on your guard. I understand that a lot of things have been happening in Brickiln since yesterday and people are getting their hands greased! More news to come!”

Richards said that this was the first time he had ever been accused of such allegations.
