NRP smells victory

By: Terresa McCall, SKNVibes.com

BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – ENTHUSIASM and conviction of victory echoes through the Nevis Reformation Party (NRP) camp, which held its 11th-hour rally last evening (Jan. 21), just hours before the opening of the polls.

The NRP’s meeting – held in Charlestown, Nevis – attracted hundreds of NRP supporters clad on green T-shirts and other similarly-coloured decorative pieces and noise-making instruments.

From beginning to end, the words of each of the five candidates were covered with an overwhelming sense of confidence of triumph.

According to Patrice Nisbett – candidate for Nevis Four (St. James), January 22 is “Progress Day” and he motivated those gathered to cast their ballots in his favour, noting that he is the best option for St. James.

And Hensley Daniel – candidate for Constituency Number Two (St. John’s) - said he could already smell and hear NRP’s victory, adding that a vote for the NRP is a vote for progress and a brighter future.

So confident is Daniel that he said his opponent – Mark Brantley – is not running this race next to him, but is doing so from behind.

He encouraged his supporters to vote as early as possible and give him the lead necessary to secure the St. John’s seat.

Candidate for Nevis One (St. Pauls) Robelto Hector’s message to his supporters was more cautionary and advisory. He said all voters must ensure that they are aware of what the NRP’s symbol is and place their ‘X’ next to it.

Hector assured that he, too, was “feeling the victory”.

Party Leader Joseph Parry (candidate for Nevis Five (St. Thomas’) and Patricia Hanley (candidate for Nevis Three (St. George’s) gave equally convincing speeches that spoke to success at the polls.

SKNVibes – while at the meeting – spoke to a man who claimed to be independent of all parties. And according to him, the NRP could very well take all five seats in today’s election.

He said the NPR has “gone clear” in the election and “there is nothing standing in their way to victory”.
