Basseterre, St. Kitts (May 12, 2005): The OECS Cultural Network is among subjects featured on a video, which highlights the French culture.
The cultural network aims to establish a communication network in the OECS, enhance visibility of the OECS cultures on the Internet and provide cultural alternative models for the people of the region. The Alliance Francaise in collaboration with the Department of Culture runs the local network.
Director of Alliance Francaise Rita Schneider said the video that is distributed on CD wass sent to all branches of Alliance Francaise throughout the world. Also on the CD are segments spotlighting French fries, French flair, French medicine and even romance which French people are famous for.
Reference to the OECS Cultural Network comes in at the 46th second of the 1 minute and 11 second long video. A picture of the facility along with contact information ends the feature.
Director Schneider indicated that this is a part of the institutions programme to share the French culture with locals. Other activities conducted by Alliance Francaise include workshops, language classes, song competitions, and exhibitions among others.
She revealed that upcoming events organized by her cultural institution include a photo exhibition by two locals, wine tasting, movie projection and music session.
