    Swearing-in Ceremony expected tomorrow

BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – WHISTLES are blowing, car horns are being honked, people are shouting with elation and crowds bedecked in Concerned Citizens Movement (CCM) paraphernalia, all in celebration of the party’s hard-fought victory at the polls.

The final result was not announced until shortly before 7:00 this morning (Jan. 23) but, even before, CCM supporters had taken to the street in mini-motorcades proclaiming their imminent victory.

And when the announcement was finally made – Mark Brantley had triumphed over Hensley Daniel – jubilation erupted at the CCM’s Headquarters in Charlestown; the CCM had won three of the five seats and had qualified to form the next government.

Hundreds of party supporters basked in the triumph and used the opportunity to greet and convey congratulatory messages to all candidates.

Spencer Brand contested the Nevis One (St. Paul’s) seat and was defeated by Robelto Hector of the Nevis Reformation Party (NRP). But he told SKNVibes that although he did not secure the seat, he is pleased with his performance, especially since it was his first time engaging in active politics.

Winning the Nevis Two seat by more than 240 votes, Mark Brantley said he is happy with the victory and indicated that he is looking forward to working with the people of Nevis in this new capacity.

CCM Leader Vance Amory (Premier designate) conquered the Nevis Three seat and he told the media that he is humbled to have been elected by the people, and that it something that has been long-awaited and that he is ready to attend to the needs of the people.

Alexis Jeffers who snatched the Nevis Four seat from Patrice Nisbett was not available for comment, but was said to have already been off on the people’s business.

Keith ‘Dis N Dat’ Scarborough was not successful at securing the Nevis Five seat which he contested with former Premier Joseph Parry. Nevertheless, he expressed that because his party has been elected to power, it is an automatic win for him.

After much work and with the fruits of their labour paying off, the elected candidates seem anxious to put their shoulders to the plough and take care of the people’s business.

But for now, CCM enthusiasts are in full celebratory mode and are engaged in a lively motorcade which is expected to flow along the Island’s Main Road, commencing in Charlestown and ending at that point.

Amory informed the media that he expects that his team would be sworn in sometime tomorrow (Jan. 24).

Attempts were made by this media house to contact NRP Leader and former Premier Joseph Parry, but all were futile.
