By: ECCB, Press Release

    Basseterre, St Kitts, 23 January 2013  --   Governor of the Eastern Caribbean Central Bank (ECCB), the Honourable Sir K Dwight Venner, will report on the performance of the Eastern Caribbean Currency Union (ECCU) in 2012 and outline the way forward for the ECCU to better cope with the challenges it now faces, when he presents the 2012 ECCU Economic Review on Tuesday, 29 January.

    The Governor’s presentation will focus on the theme: “Realism and Hope” and will address the following issues:

    • The realities within the external environment and the domestic landscape that are affecting the economies of the ECCU member countries;

    • What has been done to help the region meet the challenges of the on-going global and economic financial crisis and address the ECCU’s medium term restructuring programme; and

    • What needs to be done to help foster hope for current and future generations.

    The presentation will be broadcast simultaneously on radio and television stations in the eight ECCU member countries from 8:00 to 10:00 p.m. Following the presentation, a cross-section of residents in the respective countries will engage the Governor in discussions, via videoconference, on the issues arising from the presentation and other matters that affect the economic development of the ECCU.

    Persons will also be able to contribute to the discussion by sending their comments and questions to: info@eccb-centralbank.org.
