By: Erasmus Williams, Press Release (CUOPM)

BASSETERRE, St. Kitts, January 24th 2013 (CUOPM) – Prime Minister of the Federation of St. Kitts and Nevis, the Rt. Hon. Dr. Denzil L. Douglas has extended a hand of friendship and cooperation to the new Premier of Nevis, the Hon. Vance Amory.

“I once again extend warmest congratulations to you on the recent victory of the Concerned Citizens Movement. The people of Nevis have spoken and in our Federation the voice of the people is sacrosanct,” said Prime Minister Douglas in his congratulatory letter to the Premier of Nevis.

Dr. Douglas, who had also phone Mr. Amory Wednesday morning to congratulate him said the “voters have expressed their preference that the Concerned Citizens Movement lead the Nevis Island Administration for the next four years.@

“As you and your colleagues ready yourself to do so, I extend a hand of friendship and cooperation as together the Labour-led Federal Government of St. Kitts and Nevis and the CCM-led Nevis Island Administration work together to ensure that the people of our blessed Federation are able to live in an atmosphere of peace and stability and security; work together in the knowledge of our joint commitment to the economic advancement of our Federation; and interact, most importantly, as prescribed by the time-honored principles of democratic rule and governance.”

Premier Amory’s Concerned Citizen Movement won three of the five seats in the Nevis Island Assembly elections on Tuesday. The Nevis Reformation Party (NRP) of former Premier Hon. Joseph Parry won the other two.
