BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – NEWS reaching SKNVibes states that today (Jan. 26) the Federation has recorded its third murder for the year, with the shooting death of a 36-year-old man on Nevis.
According to reports, the deceased name was given as Rudolph ‘Smokey’ Browne and a police press release stated that he was a resident of Rawlins Plantation.
This media house learnt that he was a construction worker employed in Gingerland.
The release stated that at about 10:35 a.m. officers of the Gingerland Police Station responded to a report that a young man was found dead at Monkey Rock in Gingerland.
“The Medical Examiner at the scene disclosed that preliminary investigation indicates that a firearm may have contributed to the death of the decedent. Investigations into this matter are ongoing and an autopsy will determine the exact cause of death,” the release read.
It also stated that anyone with information pertaining to this matter is ask to call CRIME STOPPERS at 1 800 8477, adding, “Remember, when you call Crime Stoppers, you do not have to your name or number, and you may be eligible for a reward.”
Browne’s death has taken to three the number of murders committed in the Federation for the year; two on Nevis and one on St. Kitts.
The first murder was that of 22-year-old Alex ‘Indo’ Claxton, who was shot multiple times to the body shortly after 5:00 a.m. on New Year’s Day after leaving an Old Year’s Night function at Sunshine’s Beach Bar and Restaurant at Pinney’s Beach.
He was rushed to the Alexandra Hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries.
Jelani Williams of Lime Kiln was the second victim.
He was stabbed in the region of his chest in the vicinity of the Basseterre Bus and Ferry Terminal at about 10:00 p.m. on Wednesday, January 2 and later succumbed to his injury at the JNF Hospital.
