Riddim Up is for partygoers tomorrow night!

By: Precious Mills, SKNVibes.com

BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – COME tomorrow night (1. Feb), partygoers and music lovers are asked to assemble at 17 Degrees for FMM Entertainment’s first party of the year, dubbed “Riddim Up (Last Lap Revenge)’.

The event is scheduled to take place at 17 Degrees from 9:00 p.m. sharp.

On the entertainment lineup are Nu Vybes Band International, Grand Masters Band, Unstoppable Chalice, Fire House Sounds and DJ Shaggy.

The party’s theme is adopted from a Soca tune called ‘Riddim Up’, sung by uprising artiste 20-year-old Kemarri ‘KJah’ Armstrong, the event’s promoter.

He is an official artiste of FMM (Fresh Mature Minds) and also an engineer and producer.

K-Jah’s ‘Riddim Up’ was released for Sugar Mas 2012.

“It’s a Carnival song…a dancing, and that’s what we are going to be doing tomorrow,” he said.

His song was eliminated from the finalist cut of the 2012 Soca Monarch Competition because it was “non competitive material”, according to a judging panel.

K-Jah informed that the Riddim Up Dance Competition is for the females only and the best dancer would win a Smartphone.

He is encouraging people to come out early and support the promoters and all the performers.

“Some people only attend events to see one particular act or band. Hence, they take on a closed mind to others on the entertainment lineup. However, I want to encourage patrons to support the performers and to enjoy themselves, no matter what band or DJ is playing.”

Co-founder and Chief Executive Officer of FMM, Vernon Nias informed that the event is being hosted for two main reasons.

The first reason, he explained, is to give back to fans because of the “abrupt halt” of Party Central, following the  fatal stabbing of one young man during Sugar Mas Las’ Lap  (Jan. 2), while the second one is to raise funds to assist less fortunate students of his alma mater, the Beach Allen Primary School.

He however expressed disappointment that K-Jah did not get the opportunity to participate in the Soca Monarch Competition.

“That was one of the biggest songs for Carnival and he should have at least been given the opportunity to perform. I find that the judges’ critique was unfair.”

Patrons are advised that security would be tight and that there would also be lots of early giveaways as well as free jello shots upon entry.
