BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – THE body of the late Ras Tamboura Kitwana would be laid to rest tomorrow (Feb. 2).
The expected state-like Funeral Service would be held at the Gardens Playfield in Irish Town, Basseterre, St. Kitts.
The viewing of the body would take place from 1:00 p.m. and the Service would start at 3:00 p.m.
The 64-year-old will be buried at the Springfield Cemetery.
A host of government figures and other officials are expected to attend the event, including Prime Minister the Rt. Hon. Dr. L. Douglas, Minister of Culture Hon.Marcella Liburd, Minister of Tourism Hon. Richard ‘Ricky’ Skerrit and Premier of Nevis the Hon. Vance Amory.
Members from the Rastafari Nyabingi Theocracy Order are also expected to attend the Funeral Service; an event which is expected to be a celebration of Kitwana’s life.
The deceased was employed as Assistant Research and Documentation Specialist in the St. Kitts Department of Culture.
In 2009, Ras Kitwana was awarded a Medal of Honour for Culture in the National Awards recognition ceremony.
