BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – POLICE OFFICERS Randolph Diamond and Jerry Watt, during their testimony today (Feb. 4) in the kidnapping case of Larry and Gilda Vaughan, told the Court that number three accused Clayton Laws said someone threatened him and promised to kill his daughter.

Diamond said that on October 29, 2011 he was present when Consie Rogers (Police Officer) told Laws she was making inquiries into a report that he allegedly kidnapped Larry Vaughan and his wife from their home, and that he was further cautioned.

The officer said that Laws replied, “Not me, me ain’t kidnap nobody.”

Diamond said that he and Watt took Laws to the Stapleton Police Station, where Laws said that he did not kidnap anyone but wanted to make a deal.

He was told that he could not get a deal.

Diamond told the Court that Laws said someone threatened him and would kill his daughter, so he gave them the jeep to use.

It was revealed that Laws had received the jeep from a “white lady” to do repairs and he gave it to someone to transport the kidnapped woman.

Diamond said that after Laws made the statement, he was invited to sign it and he did.

In his testimony, Watt said that Laws provided a description of the person and their alias whom he claimed threatened him. And based on what he was told, Watt said it led him to believe who the person was.

Laws objected to the testimony he gave the police to be read in court, and the case is expected to continue tomorrow (Feb. 5) with Police Officer Consie Rogers’ testimony.

The prosecution alleges that on October 28, 2011, Jahmana Walters, Ali Percival, Clayton Laws and Jermaine Riley did kidnap Larry Vaughan and his wife Gilda from their Sea View Garden home and later held Gilda in confinement against her will in an abandoned house.

So far, the jury has heard the testimony of Larry and Gilda Vaughan, Glenville Matthew, Lauren Longley, Leon McAllister, Zavester Jefferson, Dr. Dwain Archibald, Randolph Diamond, Franklyn Belgrove, Damian Challenger and Julius Wyatt.
