PM Douglas to announce new portfolios in new Cabinet

By: Erasmus Williams, Press Release (CUOPM)

BASSETERRE, St. Kitts, February 5th 2013 (CUOPM) - St. Kitts and Nevis will know late Tuesday of the allocations of portfolios following last Friday’s immediate resignation of Deputy Prime Minister the Hon. Sam Condor.

“Later this evening I shall announce to this nation, the additional responsibilities that have been assigned to capable members of my Cabinet, to continue to carry out the functions, responsibilities and the services that are required of them, on behalf of the people of St. Kitts and Nevis,” Prime Minister the Rt. Hon. Dr. Denzil L. Douglas said as he concluded his weekly radio programme “Ask the Prime Minister” on Tuesday.

He told listeners earlier that it was no surprise that the Hon. Dr. Timothy Harris and the Hon. Sam Condor are no longer members of the Federal Cabinet – the former having been removed, and the latter having resigned.

“As a matter of respect and courtesy, I attempted, on several occasions, to reach Mr. Condor prior to making a public statement on his resignation but he has not been available, leaving me no choice but to accept the resignation publicly – as opposed to doing this privately first,” said the St. Kitts and Nevis leader.
