~~Adz:Right~~ BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – IN response to the destructive effects caused by Hurricane Omar, President of the Chamber of Industry and Commerce (CIC) Mark Wilkin, in an exclusive interview, called on consumers to be patient and cooperative.
Wilkin informed that he is happy to know that there have not been any reported deaths and or injuries resulting from the effects of the category 2 hurricane.
“In preparation of the storm, especially in terms of shelter, we partnered with NEMA and the government. In the same way, we are aware that some of the members of the Chamber have been assisting in the clean-up effort.
“Many of our partners in the Basseterre area have not been damaged, but I am aware that one of our partners, Sprat Net, has been damaged. I know that various businesses are opened for the day while others are still cleaning up and making necessary repairs. I am kindly asking the general public to be patient and bear with some of the businesses as they make the preparations for the next working day.”
Wilkin noted that the nation is “certainly lucky that it did not do a lot of damage” and projected that most of the businesses should be reopened for service as of tomorrow (Oct. 17).
